The LE #675: Godspeed In Retirement

John Arthur, Director of the Publishing Ministries Department of the Trans European Division is retiring. John came to the Seventh-day Adventist church from a non-Christian background as a result of attending a series of meetings with his mother when he was in his early teens. After attending 25 meetings, he and his Mom were thoroughly excited about the message, though not yet baptized. A church member came to them and thrust a grouping of papers into their hands saying, "We sell these periodicals from house to house, and we'd like to give them to you!" John and his mother read the magazines, liked them, and prayed for guidance. Then, without any training, they started out door-to-door and sold all of them. This was John's start in literature evangelism and at age 15 he was baptized and sold some 25,000 copies door to door. He soon found his way into fulltime literature ministry, and he financed his formal education by selling literature. Literature distribution has been a key factor in Johhn's entire ministry. His talents have been utilized in a number of ways. He has served as Publishing Director of the British Union, as President of the British Union, as Director of ADRA for the Trans-European Division, and since 2001 to the present he has served as the Trans-European Division Publishing Ministries Department Director. To John Arthur and family, we wish Godspeed after his forty-four years of faithful service.

Pastor Witson Mwamakamba, Director of Publishing Ministries for the Eastern Africa Division, with headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe, is retiring. Forty-four years ago, young Witson gave his heart to Jesus and became a baptized member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. His baptism was held at Tukuyu, Tanzania. The guiding hand of God was in his life, and in 1966 he enrolled as a part-time literature evangelist. He soon graduated to fulltime service, and thereafter he earned his fully credentialed standing in the literature ministry. In 1972 he was appointed to field leadership as a mission publishing director. God has blessed his ministry, and since 1992 he has served at his post of leadership with the Eastern Africa Division of Seventh-day Adventists. Beloved of the many whose lives he has touched, we extend our grateful thanks for his faithful service. To Elder Witson Mwamakamba and his wife, Judith, who has stood by his side in ministry, our heartiest congratulations. May God continue to bless the Mwamakambas and their five grown children and their families.
