The Three Angels Broadcasting Network (at http://www.3abn.org) presents a 24 hour satellite ministry with a wide variety of Christian programs, including music, childrens programs, sermons, news, interviews, answers to questions from viewers, and more.
The program is easy to receive with an inexpensive satellite dish, available for just a one time fee of $200 (installation is extra). With this option, there are no extra monthly fees. They even make their program guide available freely over the internet or by mail.
Those who have enjoyed 3ABN know how wonderful this network is. But what about the your neighbors, friends, and relatives, or even yourself, if you don't have a dish? Well, you could all hang around at someone's house who has a dish, and you'll certainly enjoy wonderful fellowship. But what about those times when you'd like to relax at home, and enjoy a quality alternative to the nonsense on most broadcast and cable channels?
Well, of course, the first choice, is to get a dish. Then you can enjoy 3ABN whenever you want it. But what if you can't have a dish where you live, or you are going on a trip and you want to share 3ABN with your friends or relatives? What if you'd like to share 3ABN with someone who doesn't have time to hang out at your house for hours watching 3ABN?
You could use what I call a "3ABN Sampler Disk". I wanted to share 3ABN with friends at church, and also friends I meet in the neighborhood. So I prepared a series of sampler DVD of the 3ABN programming from various different times. These sampler disks have a full 6 hours of 3ABN programming, more than a complete evening of viewing on one disk! Each of these disks contains an assortment of programs that show during any 6 hour period on 3ABN. After I made each disc, I prepared a list of the programs on each disc, and what is the time mark at that point. It makes it easier to find a specific program that I might want to look at again later, or share with someone who has an interest in that subject.
Ways you can use these sampler disks:
When you give out a disc, keep track of who you give it to. Let them know that you have several friends you are sharing the discs with, and that you'd like to get it back from them after they've looked at it. Pray daily for your friend that they will find the time to look at the disc. Pray for them especially when you know they might be at home with free time, pray that the Holy Spirit will prompt them to spend time with the disc.
Then follow up with them in a couple of days to see how they liked it. If it seems like they liked it, maybe you can let them keep it for a couple more days to finish watching the programs, or offer them another sampler disk to try. Again follow up with them in a couple of days to trade that disk for another disk. Of course, if they are particularly touched by a certain disc, you might let them keep the disc, and you might ask them to help you with the cost of getting a replacement, so that you can continue sharing with others.
Another idea I have is to create short video commercials for each of the major books that I sell as a literature evangelist, and put those on the disk. The commercials would be a short version of the well polished introductory canvas that I give when I have an exhibition booth.
"Hello friend. I hope you are enjoying the 3ABN programs on this disc. My family has found the 3ABN broadcast to be a real blessing, you might think about getting a dish for your family. As you are probably aware, I am a colporteur, or literature missionary. I want to share with you a set of book that has blessed many people...."
Then go into a quick canvas for one of our books. For example, I would pick up and show to the camera the book as I say,
